BYU 2008-2009 SNA board would just like to say thank you all so much for all your support throughout this last year. It has been a great time! We have really enjoyed serving you all and planning fun activities. We are lucky to have such a great bunch of people who love to get involved! We hope you enjoyed everything that we have put on for all of you and hope that if you ever have any ideas, you suggest it to your SNA reps or to any of the SNA board members for next year! We look forward to our new board and seeing what they have in store for the 2091-2010 schoolyear!

CLOSING SOCIAL!

The CLOSING SOCIAL will be this THURSDAY, APRIL 9 from 5-7 PM at ROCK CANYON PARK. There will be great food (BYU Catered) as well as some fun hoe down music!! So come dresed in your favorite cowboy/girl outfit for a good time with your fellow students!

-Please bring toothbrushes/toothpastes to donate as our service project for this activity! We are so grateful for all that you have all done throughout the year! We are excited to have this last party to celebrate a wonderful year!

BLOOD DRIVE, April 13th

SNA is putting on one final blood drive of the semester. The BLOOD DRIVE will be held Monday, APRIL 13th, in the WILK. Please stop by and donate one last time this semester. There are people in the hospital that need your help! Please come and serve and give something of yourself to them! We look forward to seeing you there!!

Mary Ellen Edmunds Dinner

This Wednesday, April 1st will be the dinner to honor Mary Ellen Edmunds. In 2005, Mary Ellen Edmund (a graduate of BYU College of Nursing in 1962), established the Mary Ellen Edmunds Nursing Endowment for the Healer's Art. The funds collected through the endowment are ment to give scholarships to students, enhance research and learning, and support faculty-student mentoring experiencse in the art and science of healing.

The dinner will be held in the Hinckley Building this Wednesday. We look forward to having Mary Ellen Edmunds visit our campus and invite several alumni back to see what the College of Nursing has become over the years. Several current nursing students will be attending the dinner to let those that invest in our education know what their donations are going to. It is our privilege to let them know how great the BYU CON is and how it is preparing us to be great nurses!

CHOOSE TO GIVE

Choose to Give will be going on Monday 23rd through Friday 27th. Bring your money and submit it in the choose to give box in the NLC. The money donated goes to help those within the College of Nursing. It is a great opportunity to give back to the college that has done so much for us!

Timothy J. Hart explains choose to give when he says, "By giving we have the opportunity to help other students through the scholarship fund. And increasing the number of students and alumni who give raises the university's national randing and improves the value of our degrees when we graduate."

Professionalism Conference

This Monday, March 23 from 8AM-1PM in the WILK, we will be holding our annual Professionalism Conference! Speakers will be invited to discuss their specialties in nursing from midwifery to Flight nursing. It is an exciting time to plan out your future and see what is out there for us nurses to become. Breakfast and lunch will be served so come and enjoy the day with your fellow nursing friends.

And don't forget to visit the SNA booth where we will be having several activities, including CHOOSE TO GIVE (come donate! Envelopes will be provided so bring your checkbooks/cash!) , voting on the SNA Bylaws (There will be a drawing for SNA members who vote. First prize will be a NEW IPOD SHUFFLE!!! ), and much more fun! We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Destress with Glenda

We had a great de-stress activity with Glenda Christiaens where students had the opportunity to take a Saturday morning to let go of all the stresses of tests, papers, and clinical! Students learned about Essential Oils from Janae, a 4th semester nursing student, as well as doing some guided imagery from Glenda! It was a great morning of relaxation!! Thanks for everyone that came!!! (Pictures below: students relax as they listen to Glenda's guided imagery to take them to a relaxing place and reduce stress!)
